Surveillance from the government is common and expected, personal income is heavily taxed, and corporations are heavily restricted in what they can and cannot do within the bounds of a planetary territory. The general quality of life is high for baseline and embodied [[humans]] but [[digitals|artificial intelligences]], [[uplifts]] and the recognisably transhuman are [[bioconservatives|mistrusted and regarded as destabilising and dangerous]].
